Angstin' it Up

That's right, I am embracing the massive angst that is my life right now. Feeding it, even. Because fighting it takes too much energy, and I just have so much to angst about!! So....

The List Of ANGST

1. This song is wonderful angst food! Thank you iTunes single of the week!!
2. 70+ hour train rides. That's a lot of anticipatory angst for me...
3. 3 massive papers due for theatre... in ONE DAY >:( (<-- it's angry at Mr. Neale)
4. I hit my shin on an empty bookshelf... DOUBLE ANGST
5. Ugly Work Uniform (Neon orange embroidery anyone?)
6. Cottonwood trees are in bloom. That means allergies out the wazoo for Abbie!
7. This is where I will be living for a year. Oh, did I forget to mention it's just from the set of stairs on the right over to the edge on the right?
8. One shower, 3 (sometimes 4) people, 1 year.
9. No more Bones until the fall! Minor, I know, but still.
10. I have so much work/stuff to do at home, that even with a four day weekend, I don't think I'll be hanging out with any friends, harumph.

Things That Are Not So Angsty

1. Awkwardly making friends at work :)
2. I passed my state-administered business test!
3. Beating Mr. Neale in an epic 20-minute one on one battle of What Are You Doing?
4. Work starting means not so much time to mope around the house!
5. My sunburn has largely gone away
6. Not having to write my extended essay outline
8. Afro-Brazilian dance class
9. Family friends you have known your whole life throwing you a farewell party!
10. Having the best friends in the world :) Y'all are always there for me! Especially Man Buddy, My Bro, My Boy, My Ginger Sister, My Tell-All Buddy, and my trio of besties! My friends are the best friends EVER.

Safe Havens

Truth is, everyone needs one. A place they can be where they are comfortable and safe and all of their problems go away. Usually it's in your home, or somewhere you go almost everyday of your life. Mine was pretty simple. My bedroom, and if I didn't want to be there, I had other places in my house, or even in the school auditorium where I've spent countless hours of the past five years. I don't have a safe haven anymore. No part of my house is unchanged by the move, boxes are piled everywhere reminding me how mad I am at the world and how I wish  I could just run and not look back or stop, but I can't. The auditorium has been filled with P.E. classes hiding from the constant rain, and I have performed there for the last time ever. So I'm currently in the market for a new safe place, because I am sure being this full of rage at the world is not healthy. So I have a list today that I am making in an attempt to get rid of some of this rage, and maybe cheer myself up.

Why Boxes are Evil

1. The corners are incredibly sharp. Cardboard cuts are worse than papercuts
2. They're cumbersome and easy to trip over
3. They're so boring and gross on the outside, it's like they're there to hide everything and take the color out of life
4. They inspired this
5. ...and this...
6. They are OBVIOUSLY trying to eat this man alive!
7. I'm pretty sure this is self explanatory
8. Not really sure what to think of this......?
9. She's not so bad, although I think she shares my hatred for boxes....
10. I can't get away from them
11. ummm, yeah. point. made.

And may I just say I find the number of youtube videos and songs devoted to cardboard boxes to be alarminlgy high??

uuuuuuuunnnnnngggggghhhhhh

So this past week and a half... SO BUSY. Two AP tests, one IB test, dance rehearsals for the concert tomorrow, and so much packing!!! So I have been far too tired to write stuff and I think I'll keep it simple.

Things That Kind of Suck
1. The lack of food in my house
2. Idaho. I have a strong hatred for that state today.
3. There is no dance department at my new high school
4. My house is full of empty and full boxes, and it's incredibly depressing
5. The weather
6. The constant nagging/complaining coming from the parentals

Things That Aren't So Sucky
1. Tomorrow :)
2. We aren't doing anything in any class
3. Good books
4. This song
5. The puppies. They are always there an cute no matter what :P

Lets hope for a less busy, happier week this coming week!!

Strange Things I'm Going to Miss

When I move, I'm obviously gonna miss a lot of things about here, since I have never lived anywhere else. But there are some things aside from the obvious (boyfriend, friends, school, house, etc.) that I've realized I will miss!!

1. My dentist. I've always had the same dentist, and I quite like him!
2. The train noise I can hear at night
3. Making snowmen and having snowball fights (North Carolina rarely gets snow, and when they do it's not a lot)
4. Knowing that the entire city (state, really) will shut down on Sundays
5. People knowing that. although I look like I'm in middle school, I really will be a senior next year! and, no I did not skip any grades. I promise I am the appropriate age for my grade level, and just look excessively young
6. The grocery store near my house. I have a fondness. Don't judge.
7. How incredibly short thunder storms are here. I am terrified of thunderstorms.
8. How mundane and tame the hobos here are. (another fear of mine is hobos. Especially the ones in Vegas)
9. All the silly place names
10. pretty much just everything.

Although, today did have some positives, but right now there's really only one that sticks out in my mind...

I told my awful drama teacher that I'm moving this summer, and therefore won't be back next year, and don't need him to advise my Extended Essay.
Not only did he stand there with his mouth hanging open for about a minute in shock, he later admitted "Wow. There are a lot of things that are going to be really hard to do without you, Abbie!!"
Day Officially Made.
I will be remembering that conversation (particularly the open-mouthed stare) for weeks to come, and giggling with pure, unfettered glee :)

Holy Chaos, Batman

This past week has been completely insane, and I am finally at liberty to write about why. In August I will be making a cross-country move to Cary, North Carolina. Yeah yeah, you probably already knew that but still. That's not even the chaotic part, anyways! The chaos is in all the little details. The Realtor coming, packing things up, transferring schools, finding a new orthodontist, moving the cats, finding a new place to live, and all that is without mentioning the most complicated part!

How This is Going to be Complicated

1. Dad starts his job on June 20th, and has to be there by then
2. Mom can't leave until we solve the house
3. I have a summer job, and so need to stay as late as I can
4. My sister isn't going to be here, or in NC next year, and so needs to get to college at some point
5. When Dad leaves in June, he's taking all the furniture he can, including my bed, dresser, etc.
6. Dad is also taking the cats. by himself. all four of them.
7. Since the house probably won't be sold in time for me to get to school on time, Dad has to fly back in August to get me and the trailer, and even more furniture, etc.
8. Our car is too old to pull the trailer, so we'll have to rent a new one
9. We aren't going to be able to buy a new house until we sell this one, which means renting for a while, and then moving AGAIN
10. Until Mom sells the house and joins us, Dad and I will be on our own. His car is a stick shift. I can't drive it
11. Graduation requirements are not the same in North Carolina as they are here

Things That Make it a Little Better

1. New School mascot
2. I can take Latin classes!
3. I'll only live about 1.5 hours away from both sets of grandparents!
4. Southern food. OM NOM NOM
5. Once again, I must mention the mascot
6. Cheerwine, which happens to be the most delicious soft drink in the world :P
7. Only three hours from the beach!
8. It's only for a year, and then, if everything goes according to plan, I'll come back to Westminster College for school

That seems to be all for now, especially seeing as my brain is so tired from my AP Chem test... :/

AP Anxiety

We've all been there before. That feeling of "Oh no! The test is this week!" I have that feeling times three. This week I will be taking the AP chemistry, AP literature, and IB math studies exams. Eek!! So I have decided to write a list about how to get rid of some of that excess test stress

How to Remove Excess Test Stress/Soothe the Crazy AP Monster Within

1. <---Look at the puppies!!! Over to the left and scroll up :)
2. Read a silly webcomic. I suggest this one
3. Throw stuffed animals around. They can take it
4. Chocolate. Lots of chocolate
5. Live in denial. If you don't think about it, it isn't real
6. Feed your cat spaghetti, it will make you laugh. (again, I'll get back to he spaghetti cat some other day)
7. Cry. It can actually help sometimes to just let it all out
8. Talk with your friends but try not to blame them or snap at them
9. ICE CREAM!!!
10. Just suck it up and get the test done with

That's all for now :) I'm off to go destress for my test tomorrow! Eeeek! :P
